All government and private schools in four border districts of Rajasthan—Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer—have been closed as a precautionary measure, following missile strikes in Pakistan by Indian forces. The decision was confirmed by an official who added that the move is part of safety preparations in areas located along the India-Pakistan border.
These districts fall within western Rajasthan, which shares a 1,070 km-long international border with Pakistan. Authorities have placed the region on high alert. Security measures have been intensified and administrative orders have been implemented to control civilian activity in sensitive zones.
In addition to school closures, mock drills have been scheduled in these areas in accordance with instructions from the central government. “Schools have been closed, and all preparations for the mock drills have been completed,” the official said. These drills are being conducted to assess preparedness and ensure coordination among emergency response teams.
This development coincides with similar measures in other border states, where institutions have been shut and security protocols activated. No incidents have been reported from the affected districts in Rajasthan so far, and local administration is monitoring the situation continuously.
